I am amazed, amused and bewildered at the extreme flexibility of the human matter!
It is staggering what Man (inclusive of women, obviously!) can become. Once a reasonable amount of training has been put in, one can be and do and become almost anything: Specialist in rare matters, athlete, computer-minded prodigy, able to solve the most complexes equations, capable of the highest feats of strength, survival and adaptation…I believe this gives us a clue as to the true purpose as well as the dynamics of incarnation. I believe there is just beyond this fact a very beautiful mystery to be contemplated.
There is a precise domain where sociological taboos have yet prevented the true observation of super-beings; Honest, open exploration of the capacities of man when it comes to the powers of his mind. It is indeed a very obscure area! Feats of memory or calculation are not uncommon. Nothing is being said of what man can make of himself in the domain of the mind and mental manifestation. This may well be too close to the notion of magic for early XXI century humanity, thus uncomfortably shrugged off. Tabooed. Caricatured.
Contemporary references to magic are those of thunderstorm-like power and magical books, rings, apparitions..everything being made very visual, thus less daunting.
The whole domain of Parapsychology, the study of the hidden mental abilities of man is conveniently shrouded in the mists of incense sticks and the New Age. It is obvious that, while we have seen the high feats of the human body: marathon races and long distance swimming, extreme sports, super-flexible yogis and contortionists amongst others; we are yet to see the true worth of men when it comes to psychic phenomena. One laughs nervously and looks away when it comes to the tabooed powers of the mind (or lack thereof). If we are overall comfortable with feats of memory or calculation, we are yet to figure what man can really do in the domains of mental manifestation, distant action and extra-sensorial perceptions…or do these things just don't exist?
